A to Z Challenge 2013 – N is for…

(via Ted_Roger_Karson)

This beautiful photo was taken of the moon two nights ago. Why am I such a nocturnal creature? Is it because of my name? Who knows. But some of my best work is done in the wee hours of the night.

Everyone’s asleep, no distractions nothing but me and the keys as we sit down together and create.

I understand that this method doesn’t work for everyone. Also, I’ve had great writing sessions during the daylight hours. In fact, just yesterday I had seven writing sprints. They were a combination of 50mins or 30mins sessions and my word counts flourished.

In fact, as of yesterday, I have surpassed my total word counts for both novels and I’m quite pleased with the fact I’ve written nearly 80,000 words in fifteen days.

Still, I have favored my nighttime writings over any other throughout the day.

What is your favorite time of day to write? Do you have particular writing rituals that help your process? Do you find that it is at night when the magic happens?

  1. Some impressive word counts there! Some nice pics too. My favourite time is usually within daylight hours, but the realities of work and family life mean that I have to write at night, which is ok, but it’s usually pretty late before I get to the keyboard and consequently time is short.

Hope you’r enjoying the A-Z Challenge as much as I am. Happy writing!

  2. I am. I figure, never blogged before so I might as well do something fantabulous out of the gate. 🙂 It has been a trip, though. Some letters came easier than others, but I want to keep things fresh. Happy writing to you, as well.
